One of the fastest growing youth sports today is the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP).  Monroe Co. 4-H joined the SCTP in 2003.  SCTP is offered to school age participants in the Monroe and surrounding counties.  It gives them the oportunity to showcase their competitive shooting skills and to earn state and national recognition.  The program is designed to instill participants with safe firearm handling, commitment, responsibility, leadership, and teamwork.  This program also give the participants opportunities to interact with business leaders  which will benefit them when they enter the job market.

The SCTP is a cooperative effort between National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the firearm industry's largest and most diverse trade association with 3,600 members, and the governing Olympic Trap and International Skeet - the Amature Trapshooting Assoc. (ATA), the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA), the National Sporting Clay Assoc. (NSCA), and USA Shooting (USAS).
